Rockin’ Christmas Glamaganza returns to Dolans Warehouse

Annual sell-out festive party promises sequins, snowballs and ’70s anthems

The Alvin Purple Experience Christmas Glamaganza is set to transform Dolans Warehouse into a glittering temple of ’70s excess on Friday December 5, delivering what has become Limerick’s most anticipated festive rock celebration.

This annual sell-out spectacular promises all the yuletide classics reimagined through a glam rock lens, featuring “Merry Christmas”, “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday”, “Lonely This Christmas”, and “We Wish You a Glammy Christmas”, alongside numerous seasonal surprises.

Fronted by the flamboyant Alvin ‘LoveGod’ Purple—a self-styled “human disco ball” channelling the spirits of Bowie, Holder, and Mercury—the Rabble Rouser, Craic Dealer, Scene Stealer, Purple Pied Piper, Alvin ‘LoveGod’ Purple brings two Giant Snowballz and a Whole Lotta Love & Party

The show celebrates the soundtrack of a generation spanning the glam rock pantheon, from T. Rex and Ziggy Stardust to Slade, Sweet, Mud, ABBA, and Mott The Hoople, with diversions into AC/DC territory and chart-toppers like “Video Killed the Radio Star” and “Spirit in the Sky”.

Purple is supported by his loyal Purple Posse: drummer Rickey ‘Slick’ Slaughter, bassist Gary Slitter, and guitarist Ronnie Hendrix, forming what the band describes as “the best glam rock Christmas party” experience available.

Squeezed into sequinned jumpsuits and embracing the “Excess All Areas” motto, the ensemble has traded fictional Grammy awards and Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame recognition for the more tangible rewards of delivering high-energy party nights to their devoted following.

Audiences are encouraged to “glam up, plug in your air guitar, feel the noize and sing it loud and clear”—preferably turned up to 11—for an evening that promises to deliver on the band’s boastful claim: “We’ve Got The Biggest Ballz Of Them All”.
