THERE was good news in the airwaves as it was announced that €3million euro out of a €4m national funding round is to be ring-fenced to support Irish commercial radio stations.
That’s according to Limerick TD and Communications Minister Patrick O’Donovan, who hopes to ring-fence €3m, out of a €4m fund to support nation media outlets, for commercial radio stations.
The €4m News Reporting Scheme fund aims to support public interest journalism nationwide, across print, broadcast, and digital mediums, overseen by Coimisiún na Meán.
This comes as Minister O’Donovan announced the separate securing of €6m for the continuation of the Local Democracy and Courts Reporting Schemes.
