Man arrested in connection with operation targeting organised crime group in Limerick

A MAN has been arrested as part of an operation targeting an organised crime group (OCG) in Limerick.

The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested this Wednesday morning (September 3) in connection with an investigation into an OCG suspected of being involved in the burglaries of business and residential premises as well as the theft of high value vehicles.

The arrest was made following an intelligence-led operation involving Garda members from the Clare and Tipperary Division and the Southern Region Support Units.

The man arrested in connection with this investigation is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda station in the Southern Region.

“This investigation remains ongoing,” a Garda statement confirmed.

In April, another man in his 30s was charged and appeared before the courts in connection with ongoing investigations into an OCG, and was charged in relation to a string of burglaries and other offences

Gardaí said he was the second person at the time to appear before the courts in connection with these investigations.
