AN introduction to golf for children is underway at Rathbane, Limerick’s only public golf facility.
Get Into Golf for Kidz is a brand new programme designed to introduced the sport in a fun, inclusive, and accessible way.
It is led by Lady Captain Esther Green and Rathbane manager Colm McCarthy, both certified Golf Ireland community golf instructors.
“The programme blends fresh air, friendship, and fundamentals to spark a lifelong love of the game,” commented Colm.
Earlier in the summer, the club introduced Ryder Cup events, offering kids – well over a 100 in terms of numbers – a taste of team-based competitions and the values of respect, fair play, and sportsmanship.
The initiative has been a standout success, with juniors enthusiastically embracing the format and making remarkable progress in their golfing journey.
Elaine O’Connor, Ryder Cup coordinator with Limerick City and County Council, commented: “It’s wonderful to see the young people in Limerick getting familiar with this format in anticipation of the Ryder Cup coming to Adare Manor in September 2027, alongside the Junior Ryder Cup event in Ballyneety Golf Club. The future looks bright for golf in Limerick.”
