KILFINANE’S Oisín O’Callaghan is a live contender for a podium finish at the UCI Mountain Bike (Downhill) World Championships in Champéry region of Valais, Switzerland, at the weekend.
A former Junior World Champion, O’Callaghan recently successfully defended his senior national championship on his home trails in Ballyhoura.
The 22-year-old has been flying on the World Cup circuit already this year, finishing inside the top 10 all but three times, and taking second place at Round One in Poland in May.
Having started the year with back-to-back wins at races in Portugal, O’Callaghan has found success at every level, and will look for a big performance in a few days’ time.
