LOCAL charities are encouraged to enter a valuable sweepstake for their financial benefit which will be run in conjunction with the Boyle Sports JT McNamara Munster National at Limerick in October.

In a continued pledge to their charitable support, the McManus family of Martinstown will team up with the National and Limerick Racecourse by hosting a sweepstake that will see charities from the Mid West region benefit by up to €40,000.

Under the initiative, charities will have the opportunity to enter via limerickraces.ie.

Each of those drawn will be matched to a horse in the National, with the winning nominator to receive €20,000, while there will be significant prizes for all others.

Limerick Racecourse will also donate 1,500 general admission tickets among the shortlisted charities, who can sell them for their own reward.

Down Syndrome Limerick was the 2025 winning charity nominator.

JP McManus said: “I am delighted that we have this opportunity through the sweepstake to support the very many charities and community organisations who do so much in our community. And, I am looking forward to what promises to be a very exciting and enjoyable meeting.”

Racecourse CEO Michael Lynch added: “We are delighted to be continuing our associations with both the sponsor and the McManus family for the Munster National Weekend Festival and Charitable Sweepstake.”

“It is an important part of our growing racing business and one we are keen to continuously develop and improve. The winning of last year’s National by local trainer Eric McNamara’s Real Steel and jockey Danny Mullins created a fantastic and memorable atmosphere for all attendees.”

The two-day National Hunt Meeting – the feature at which will be the €100,000 Munster National – takes place at Greenmount Park, Patrickswell, on October 18 and 19.
