THE COUNTY Limerick town of Cappamore was abuzz with chatter and speculation this morning as one mystery person woke up a million euros richer.

That’s according to the National Lottery, who confirmed that the winning ticket from Saturday night’s Lotto Plus draw (September 6), and the €1,000,500 prize that comes with it, was sold in a local store in the town.

The ticket was purchased at Centra Cappamore, where the owner and staff are still reeling from the revelation.

“We’re absolutely delighted – this is huge for us, for the team, and for Cappamore,” said store owner Mark Lenihan.

“It’s our first ever big National Lottery win, and to think that a life-changing ticket was sold right here in our store, is just incredible. Massive congratulations to the winner – we’re thrilled for you and wish you all the very best.”

Cappamore residents, and those who have passed though Mark Lenihan’s Centra on Saturday to test their Lotto luck, have been advised to check their tickets following the life-changing win.

The winning ticket was sold in Centra Cappamore on Saturday, the National Lottery confirmed.

“The Lotto Plus Raffle usually sees between 60 and 120 winners of €500 in each draw. However, Saturday night’s draw included a special event: every ticket with the winning raffle number was entered into a once-off random draw, where one ticket was selected to win an additional €1,000,000,” a statement from the National Lottery explained.

“While all 81 ticketholders with the winning number received the standard €500 prize, one fortunate Limerick player walked away with a life-changing total of €1,000,500.”

The winning raffle number was 3184.

The lucky winner was advised to sign the back of the ticket and keep it safe. They were urged by the National Lottery to contact the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or via email on [email protected].
