WORK experience students are being offered a unique opportunity to work with one of the world’s best known automobile companies, Jaguar Land Rover Ireland, in their Shannon-based R&D centre of excellence in software engineering.
The call for applications from students 13 years old and over involves a virtual work experience programme with certification at the end.
The R&D Software Development campus in Shannon is a leader in software development for level four automated driving and electrical vehicle architecture.
The diverse and inclusive teams at Jaguar Land Rover Ireland, the company said, are working on next generation automated driving, electrical architecture, next-generation telematics, cybersecurity, cloud services, and benchmarking.
The company recently launched the JLR: Drive Your Future virtual work experience programme. It is now accessible to all secondary school students aged 13 and over across the country, delivered in partnership with Spring Pod.
The programme is available on demand and free of charge. Students receive a certificate upon completion, which it says is useful for university and apprenticeship applications.
“The initiative is designed to scale up insights and deliver an inclusive offering for work experience, allowing us to reach a wider audience geographically and demographically,” a Jaguar Land Rover spokesman said.
“We believe this initiative will not only enhance our ability to connect with a diverse range of students but also inspire the next generation of talent to consider a career in STEM.”
