“Louis was a lovely and warm person,” one mourner said in an online tribute, while others noted the “many happy memories” of the late Mr Collins and his family.

Mr Collins lost his life following a two-bike collision at the Conor Pass in County Kerry at around 4.45pm this past Sunday afternoon.

The late Limerick man was pronounced dead at the scene, while another motorcyclist – a man in his 60s – and his female passenger were rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry, where it is understood they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The R560 road was closed for a period to allow for Garda forensic collision investigators to carry out a technical examination.

Mr Collins will be reposing at his home in Dromalainn, The Hill, Abbeyfeale, on Wednesday (September 10) from 5pm to 9pm. Removal from his home will take place the following day at 1.15pm.

The late Abbeyfeale man, in his 50s, will be laid to rest this Thursday (September 11) following Requiem Mass at The Church of The Assumption in Abbeyfeale at 2pm. Interment afterwards at Reilig Íde Naofa, Abbeyfeale.

He is sadly missed by his partner Mary, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts Bridget and Madeline, uncle Tim, cousins, and a wide network of relatives, neighbours, and friends, including in the biking community, where he was well respected.
