UISCE รireann has confirmed that it has completed the first phase of works to rationalise water supply in Adare.
This first phase involved the construction of two kilometres of water main from the Adare reservoir along the N21 and on the Adare to Ballingarry regional road (R519).
The water utility said that the project aims to improve the security and resilience of supply for homes and businesses across Adare.
Laura Heneghan, Uisce รireann’s programme manager, said that “this project represents a significant investment in strengthening Adare’s water supply and will not only improve the water supply for over 2,300 customers in the area, but it will also facilitate future growth and development, including the delivery of new housing”.
The second phase of works was due to commence on September 8, and will involve the construction of the remaining 7.1 kilometres of water main, which will connect the Adare network to the Limerick City and Environs Supply Zone.
The upgrade will also address operational issues for the Adare Water Treatment Plant, which is on the Environmental Protection Agency’s remedial action list.
Uisce รireann have said that it’s expected this second phase of works will be completed by the third quarter of 2026.
However, residents are being warned that the works may involve some short-term water supply interruptions, with a minimum of 48 hours notice to be given.
People will also be able to avail of Uisce รireann’s free text service, which provides real-time updates on services, with sign up available on water.ie.
