MULTI-AWARD winning dance company Junk Ensemble return to the Lime Tree Theatre with their acclaimed production Dances Like a Bomb on Wednesday September 17.

The Dublin-based dance innovators present a powerful and uplifting duet that boldly explores themes of ageing and care. Blending visceral imagery, contemporary dance, text and music, Dances Like a Bomb serves as a defiant reclaiming of the ageing body, challenging societyโ€™s obsession with youth whilst celebrating the strength and beauty of mature performers.

The production features leading dance artists Finola Cronin, formerly of Pina Bauschโ€™s legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal, and Luc Dunberry, who previously performed with Sascha Waltz & Guests. Together, they deliver performances that critics have described as heroic, vulnerable, comedic and utterly authentic.

The piece examines the complex dynamics of interdependence as the performers care fiercely for one another whilst fiercely defending their independence. Through moments where they alternately support and challenge each other, the production unpacks the universality of ageing and the performative aspects of growing older, whilst exploring the profound limits of love and care.
