AS the long stretch in the evening fades, Limerick GardaĆ have advised residents across Limerick city and county to ālock up and light upā to help combat home burglaries.
Sergeant Natasha Walsh of Henry Street Garda Station advised local residents, with one person already before the courts for targeted break-ins in the Castletroy area, to ālock all doors and windows and leave a light onā before leaving the house of an evening.
āDonāt give thieves the opportunity,ā she said. āA well-lit home is a strong deterrent. Advising that technology āsometimes lets us downā, Sergeant Walsh also reminded drivers to double check that cars are locked.
āOpportunistic thieves will not pass up the chance to relieve you of your belongings,ā she concluded.
