Action continues in Munster Senior Cup

IT was another interesting week in the Munster Senior Cup. Garryowen and Shannon have won through to the semi-finals.

Garryowen defeated UCC 27-12 at the Mardyke.

Jordan Power scored a try to give the Light Blues a 5-0 interval lead.

Joe Finn, Tom Ironside Wickham, and Des Fitzgerald added further tries. Lachlan Stewart kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Shannon booked their semi-final spot with a 24-0 away win at Midleton.

Harry Long and Matt Te Pou scored tries for Shannon, who were also awarded a penalty try.

Cillian O’Connor converted both tries and also kicked a penalty.

Elsewhere, Cork Constitution were 35-13 winners at Nenagh (holders) and Highfield were home victors over Young Munster, 26-25.

For Munsters, Hubert Gilvarry, Oran O’Reilly and Jake O’Riordan struck tries, while Kelvin Langan kicked two conversions and two penalties.

Garryowen and St Mary’s, meanwhile, will meet in the final of the Transfield Cup.

The Light Blues booked their place with a 35-14 win against Shannon at Dooradoyle.

Junior Okafor scored two tries for the winners and Dara Phelan and Sam Jordan got one each.

Matthew Joyce kicked three penalties and three conversions. Scott Gleeson and Robbie Deegan replied with tries for Shannon and both were converted by Rory O’Gorman.

St Mary’s edged out Old Crescent 25-25 at Takumi Park in the other semi.
