CULTURE Night 2025 kicks off in Newcastle West on Friday September 19 with Limerick-based poet and artist Jo Slade reading from her work in the town’s library at 4pm.
Jo’s most recent collection, Once, was launched earlier this year and brings into focus fundamental questions about attitudes to women and children, to the natural world, and to the vulnerability of the human species.
The poems have been described as “light beams across the darkness of our times”.
Culture Night events in Newcastle West include the poetry reading in the library, a ceramics exhibition and talk at the Red Door Gallery, and a screening of Birdsong at the Desmond Complex.
