LIMERICK IN PHOTOS: Dromcollogher remembers tragic fire disaster

VICTIMS of the 1926 Dromcollogher Cinema Disaster were remembered at an anniversary mass. And the Dromcollogher26 group is leading a local and national effort to ensure the 48 victims of the disaster are remembered of the 100th anniversary next year.

A mass was celebrated by Fr Carey, followed by a decade of the rosary and wreath-laying at the communal grave.

Minister for Culture Patrick O’Donovan, Minister Niall Collins, Deputy Richard O’Donoghue, Cllr Jerome Scanlan on behalf of Mayor John Moran, Cllr Tom Ruddle, Cllr Liam Galvin, and Cllr Francis Foley were among those in attendance.

The evening also featured a poignant performance by Amhlaoibh McSweeney.
