ST SAVIOUR’S Community Hall on Lord Edward Street in Limerick City is a place brimming over with stories.
It also continues to thrive thanks to volunteers and the support of the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) and Limerick City and County Council.
Established in 1989, St Saviour’s serves as a hub of community development, with adult education classes provided in more recent years.
It offers a broad range of courses in creative writing, Irish, IT skills, meditation, conversational law, history, and more, welcoming adult learners from all backgrounds.
This comes as a recent challenge involving a reduction in tuition hours was resolved, marking a new chapter of growth for the centre.
“We’re delighted to be entering our new academic year on such a positive note,” said Annette Egan, St Saviour’s committee co-ordinator.
St Saviour’s also announced the launch of its third publication of works by students on its creative writing course. The publication celebrates the talent, voice, and creativity of local adult learners.
Councillor Maria Donoghue told the Limerick Post that the work that takes place in St Saviour’s goes far beyond education.
“It builds vital connections within the community and serves as a supportive social hub, providing not only learning opportunities but also mental stimulation and a strong sense of belonging,” she enthused.
“Groups like St Saviour’s are the hidden gems of our city communities, and I’m delighted to continue offering my support and working to secure funding streams for this outstanding local initiative.”
