LIMERICK has among the highest commercial vacancy rates in the country, with almost one in five storefronts shuttered.

Thatโ€™s according to the recent GeoDirectory Vacancy Rates report for the second quarter of this year.

According to the report, Limerick has a commercial vacancy rate of 17.9 per cent โ€“ close to one in five commercial units vacant.

This stands above the 14.6 national average rate reported across the country for the Q2 period, itself a .2 per cent increase on the same period in 2024.

As of June this year, the report stated, 30,800 commercial units lay vacant nationwide. The highest vacancy rates were reported in Sligo (20.8 per cent), Dublin (20.3), and Galway (18.7).

The lowest rates were found in Meath (10 per cent), Wexford (10.6), and Westmeath (12.2).
