Homeowners asked to consider rightsizing

HOMEOWNERS over 55 have been called by Limerick City and County Council to consider rightsizing to a small home in Patrickswell.

The Council launched a new rightsizing scheme in An Tobar, Patrickswell, with applications open for people over 55 who own their own home to downsize to a two-bed dwelling, selling their home on the private market in return for a new lifelong tenancy.

Successful applicants pay a 25 per cent financial contribution to the Council.

The two-bed, two-storey homes have an area of 90 square metres with a private back garden. Pets are allowed.

The new homes, currently under construction, are expected to be available at the end of October.
