Three arrested in connection with gun attack and ramming of motorist in Rathkeale

GARDAร were questioning three men in connection with the ramming and shooting of a man in Rathkeale, County Limerick last month.

Gardaรญ arrested the three suspects on Wednesday on suspicion of involvement in the ramming of a car and the shooting of its driver at Kilcoole, Rathkeale, on the evening of August 21.

โ€œShortly after 6.30pm, Gardaรญ and emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle being rammed and an altercation in the area. During the incident, a firearm was discharged. A man in his 40s sustained injuries and was treated at University Hospital Limerick,โ€ said a Garda statement.

โ€œAs part of this investigation, Gardaรญ attached to Crime Functional Area, Limerick, conducted a planned operation in the Rathkeale area on Wednesday, 1st October 2025, during which three individuals were arrested.โ€

The three suspects, aged in their mid teens, 20s, and 40s, were being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939, at Garda Stations in County Limerick.

In a fresh appeal for witnesses, Gardaรญ said: โ€œRoad users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the Kilcoole and greater Rathkeale areas between 6.15pm and 7.30pm on Thursday 21st August 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaรญ.โ€
