
HUNDREDS of homes and businesses across Limerick remain without power this Friday afternoon as Storm Amy makes her presence known across the country.
According to the ESB Networks’ PowerCheck website, over 330 homes are without power in the Cratloe area, along with 350 in Rathkeale and over 100 in Foynes.
Power is expected to be restored in all three areas by 6pm this evening.
Meanwhile, power has restored for the majority of homes in Abbeyfeale, with 1,300 without power earlier today.
Over 100 homes in the area are still without power however, and it is not known when power will be restored.
The L-1236 Aghalacka Road in Askeaton is closed due to a fallen tree in the area, while a section of the L1125 in Moungfune, Murroe, remains flooded since this morning with a temporary road closure in place, according to a statement from Limerick City and County Council.
The Council also confirmed that the partial opening of the dual carriageway from Coonagh to the Old Cratloe Road, which was to take place today, has been postponed until next due to the adverse weather conditions.

Persistent and heavy rain and a significant risk of flooding is expected in West Limerick according to NDFEM, as well as in parts of Kerry, West Cork, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim and Roscommon.
A Status Yellow wind warning issued for Limerick and the rest of Ireland in place until midnight this Friday night (October 3) warns of difficult travel conditions, debris and displaced loose objects, and the possibility of fallen trees.
A Status Orange warning is in place for nearby Clare, Galway, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, where Met รireann is warning up to gale force winds, fallen trees, damage to power lines, possible wave overtopping, and very difficult travel conditions.
A Status Red warning has been issued off the coast from Loop Head to Rossan Point to Fair Head, with predictions from the weather service of violent storm force 11 winds.
