FIVE abandoned horses were seized in one day by Limerick City and County Council.
On September 16, four abandoned horses were seized by the local authority in the area of Cliona Park in Moyross โ a five-year-old female horse, an aged female Shetland, a male yearling, and a two-year-old male Shetland.
On the same day, a three-year-old female horse was seized from Friarstown, Grange, County Limerick.
A three-year-old male horse was also seized on September 26 from Knocklong. According to a Council statement, the owners of the horses are not known.
Abandoned horses seized by the Council, if not claimed by their owner within five days, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the 1996 Control of Horses Act.
