THE Limerick Garda Division had one of the highest numbers of complaints from the public made against Gardaí outside of Dublin last year.
That’s according to the 2024 annual report by the Garda Ombudsman.
The report showed 92 reports were made about 54 Garda members in Limerick across last year. The figures include complaints that have been determined admissible, inadmissible, and ones which decisions had not yet been made on as of December 31, 2024.
The highest number of complaints were recorded in Dublin (including 182 in DMR North alone).
Outside of the capital, 192 complaints were recorded in Cork city and county, 109 in Galway, 102 in Wexford/Wicklow, and 141 in Meath/Westmeath.
Just 39 complaints were recorded against Gardaí in Kilkenny/Carlow, 47 in Sligo/Leitrim, 53 in Waterford, and 58 in Kerry.
