Motorcyclist killed in road crash in County Limerick

GARDAร have issued an appeal to the public after a motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic crash in County Limerick this past Sunday (October 12).

According to a Garda statement, the fatal crash took place near Callahow, Dromcollogher, County Limerick, at around 7pm on Sunday evening.

The single-vehicle collision, involving a motorcycle, occurred at the R519, the Garda statement confirmed.

Emergency services attended the scene, where the motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead shortly after.

Gardaรญ said his body was transferred to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem was due to take place.

As of this Monday morning, the scene at the R519 is preserved for technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Gardaรญ said that the road is currently closed, with local diversions in place.

Now, Gardaรญ are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the fatal crash to contact them.

Gardaรญ asked for any road users who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have camera footage (including dashcam), to make themselves known and make any footage available to investigating Gardaรญ. They are interested in speaking with motorists travelling in the R519 Callahow area between 6.15pm and 7.15pm on Sunday October 12.
