LIMERICK’S Jim Donovan returns to the ring on the ‘Rumble In The Hills’ card in Letterkenny, County Donegal, this Saturday night (October 18).
The 21-year-old southpaw will fight Bartlomiej Wlodarczyk of Poland and the contest will be streamed live on Triller TV.
Last month, in his first professional bout, Donovan scored a unanimous decision over veteran Lukasz Barabasez.
“I came out low, not high, in my pro debut and got caught with some shots. I need to be better at executing, but I’m happy about my performance. Andy (his head trainer, former world champion Andy Lee, Castleconnell) told me to stand and fight in the fourth round. It was a good experience,” Donovan said.
On the step-up to the paid ranks, he stated: “Everything was the same other than the atmosphere in the arena, ring walk and the large crowd. In the ring it was the same, just me and my opponent. I like keeping active and fighting only five weeks later. It’ll help build my record and help me move up.”
He concluded: “I’ve watched some film of my opponent and have been training to make the necessary adjustments and meet the challenge,” Donovan commented. “It’s going to be a great night!”
Said joint manager Keith Sullivan: “I have high expectations for Jim. Every young fighter wants to get to the top, to reach the promised land of a world title bout, but few have the talent or drive to stick it out through the grueling days along the journey. I believe Jim is unique in that he has what it takes to persevere down that road. Fighting in Ireland is a great opportunity for him to showcase his professional talents.”
