THE 25TH running of the €100,000 Munster National, nowadays supported by BOYLE Sports and held in memory of JT McNamara, is at the heart of an exciting two-day National Hunt Meeting at Limerick this Saturday and Sunday.
First run at the opening of Greenmount Park in Patrickswell back in 2001, the National continues to attract high-quality handicap chasers.
In a continued pledge to their charitable support, the McManus family of Martinstown will once again be on board with a charity sweepstake of €40,000, won on its inaugural staging last year by Down Syndrome Limerick, who collected a welcome €20,000.
“I am delighted that we have this opportunity through the sweepstake to support the very many charity and community organisations who do so much in our community here in the Mid West. I am looking forward to what promises to be a very exciting and enjoyable meeting,” said JP McManus.
“We are delighted to be continuing our associations with both BOYLE Sports and JP and Noreen McManus for the Munster National Weekend Festival and Charitable Sweepstake,” added Michael Lynch, CEO of Limerick Racecourse.
“The National weekend is an important part of our growing racing business and one we are keen to continuously develop and improve. The winning of last year’s National by local trainer Eric McNamara’s Real Steel and jockey Danny Mullins created a fantastic and memorable atmosphere for all attendees.”
An excellent support card includes the STL (Shannon Transport Logistics) Handicap Chase, worth €45,000.
Music will be with Ali Woodford.
Saturday is Ladies’ Day at Limerick, with entertainment from DJ Richard Lowe.
On the track, the highlights are The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cailin Alainn Mares Hurdle of €27,500 and the €25,000 Greenmount Novice Hurdle.
