
A WOMAN in her 70s lost her life in a tragic car crash in county Limerick on Saturday (October 18).
The fatal two-car collision happened on the N21 at Templeglantine West in County Limerick at around 11.50am on Saturday morning, Gardaรญ confirmed in a statement.
Gardaรญ and emergency services attended the scene following reports of the tragic crash.
According to Gardaรญ, the driver one of one the cars, a woman in her 70s, was rushed to University Hospital Limerick where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The female passenger of the second car, also aged in her 70s, was taken to University Hospital Kerry, where she was being treated for injuries that Gardaรญ believe to be non-life-threatening.
A forensic examination of the scene was to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, Gardaรญ confirmed, adding that the road is currently open following the fatal crash.
Now, Gardaรญ are appealing to members of the public who may have been travelling in the area and have any information, including dashcam footage of the crash, to come forward.
Gardaรญ are looking to speak to anyone travelling in the N21 Templeglantine West area between 11am and 12pm on Saturday to contact them.
โRoad users with camera footage (including dashcam) from that section of road during the relevant period are also asked to make it available to investigating officers,โ the Garda statement read.
