Three bold performances this week as emerging curators bring contemporary theatre to younger audiences
Following successful opening nights with Boyfriends and In A Bad Way, the LASTA Festival returns to Belltable this week with three distinctive performances aimed at audiences aged 18–30.
The national youth-led festival, taking place across seven partner venues, hands programming control to emerging curators and aims to draw younger audiences into theatre through bold, contemporary work.
Thursday evening sees Stretched On Your Grave: A Tribute to Sinéad O’Connor (8pm), featuring readings and live music from local artists celebrating the late Irish icon. Friday brings One Man Poe (8pm), a gothic, high-energy performance of Edgar Allan Poe’s work from award-winning company Threedumb Theatre. The week concludes on Saturday with Boxing Day: A Translation (8pm), William Keohane’s acclaimed exploration of identity and human connection, newly translated by Matthew O’Rourke.
Belltable reports that the festival is already succeeding in its mission to attract first-time theatre-goers and new voices to the arts, building momentum for a new generation of audiences in Limerick.
All performances begin at 8pm at Belltable. Tickets and further information are available at www.limetreebelltable.ie
