Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) returns to Dublin, Limerick, and Cork with THREE WORLDS, a thrilling musical journey spanning the elegance of English Baroque, the vibrancy of contemporary music, and the warmth of Dvorák’s Romantic strings, all under the direction of Emily Davies.
Step into Purcell’s Abdelazer Suite, alive with drama, dance, and irresistible vitality. From its bold opening to the iconic Rondeau, later immortalised by Britten, this is music that crackles with energy and continues to captivate audiences across the centuries.
Ronan Guilfoyle’s percussion concerto Mani explodes with rhythmic drive and vivid colour, placing percussion star Matthew Jacobson at the heart of the action. Inspired by South Indian traditions, the piece journeys from a dazzling rhythmic opening, through a spellbinding solo, to a finale bursting with energy and colour. With a hybrid drum set, bass guitar played by ICO Bassist Malachy Robinson and the brilliance of the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Mani fuses groove, energy and invention in an exhilarating journey.
Dvorák’s Serenade for Strings is loved for its glowing warmth and irresistible charm. Brimming with memorable melodies and dance-like vitality, it always captivates audiences with its joy and beauty.
THREE WORLDS unites three musical landscapes, showcasing ICO’s commitment to smart programming, brilliant performance, and a deep connection with audiences across Ireland. Don’t miss Irish Chamber Orchestra at the Whyte Recital Hall, RIAM, Dublin, University Concert Hall Limerick and Curtis Auditorium, MTU Cork on 13, 14 and 15 November respectively.
