IN FRONT of a bumper attendance at Crescent College, Limerick Celtics produced an excellent performance to defeat previously unbeaten Templeogue, 72-65, in an enjoyable Women’s Division One fixture at the weekend.

Celtics, marshalled by the outstanding Sidney Richards, played excellent team defence in the third and fourth quarters with the entire team rotating and putting in big performances.

Aoife Morrisey and Amy Buckley contributed an array of excellent scores to bring the game back to a two-point game as Celtics gained control  midway through the third quarter and took the lead for the first time when Sabhbh Edwards Murphy scored a three pointer.

Celtics closed it out near the end with a Louise Scannell 3 from downtown and an excellent Katie Richards bucket to take the win by a seven point margin.
