LIMERICK City and County Council has confirmed plans for the first of several park and ride facilities throughout the county to ensure a smooth flow of punters for the 2027 Ryder Cup in Adare.
The park and ride plans, according to a statement from the Council, “will form part of a larger overall transport plan for the Ryder Cup”.
The first proposed park and ride site will be located at Richmondvilla in County Limerick, positioned between Patrickswell and Crecora.
According to the Council, the Part 8 development will be only temporary and use an existing vehicle access on the L1407 local road.

- External Walls: Up to €8,000 Grant
- Attic: Up to €1,500 Grant
- Cavity Walls: Up to €1,700 Grant
- Internal Dry Lining: Up to €4,500 Grant
The Part 8 planning application is being submitted by the Council in tandem with a number of other proposed park and ride sites, all to support transport throughout the major international golfing tournament, including other facilities at Annacotty, Croagh North and South and West.
The Council confirmed that all of the park and ride developments will be “temporary and removable, with the lands to be returned to existing use within one month after completion of the Ryder Cup”.
Exact locations for the other sites has yet to be confirmed.
The local authority said that an environmental impact assessment is not required under legislation.
Plans for the Richmondvilla development will be available to view at local authority offices and on mypoint.limerick.ie before November 25. Submissions on the plans can be made to the Council’s Planning, Environment, and Place Making Department, via [email protected], or at planning.localgov.ie before 4pm on December 8.
