TREATY United can move a step closer to Premier Division status for next season with victory over Bray Wanderers in Sundayโ€™s First Division play-off final at Athlone Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

โ€œOverall between us, itโ€™s always been nip-and-tuck. They wonโ€™t fear us and we wonโ€™t fear them. And I think it will be a good game,โ€ commented Treaty manager Tommy Barrett to Live 95 ahead of the final.

The winners here will meet the second from bottom in the Premier Division on November 9 for a place in the top tier in 2026.

Barrettโ€™s impressive side came through the two-legged semi-final 2-1 at the expense of fancied Cobh Ramblers.

In the opening fixture at the Markets Field, Treaty claimed the only goal late on from Joe Hanson at the weekend.

In Tuesdayโ€™s return leg at St Colmanโ€™s Park, Matthew Whelan levelled the tie in stoppage time.

This sent the contest to extra time and the decisive score came from centre-half Eรณin Martin, who from inside the area finished brilliantly to the bottom corner at the end of the first period.

Elsewhere, Bray overcame UCD 4-2 on aggregate to reach the decider.
