IT WAS a case of a Halloween wash out in Limerick last night (October 31) with many children disappointed with both tricks and treats being postponed due to heavy downpours.
And, a number of areas across the city and county experienced some flash flooding in the stormy conditions.
According to a statement from Limerick City and County Council, a number of roads across the county experienced localised flooding “due to the surcharging of drains and the saturation of surrounding lands”.
The Council explained that the impacted areas in the city include St Joseph’s Street, Hogan Avenue, Clancy’s Strand, O’Callaghan Strand, Jetland Junction on the Ennis Road, the top end of Corrib Drive, and the New Link Road Junction.
Adare and Kilmallock were also impacted.

“LCCC crews were mobilised and cleared all affected drains and gullies, surface water receded and all areas were made accessible,” the Council said.
“One private property in Adare was affected by internal flooding and was cleared over a short period.”
The Council said it will continue to monitor locations over the coming days, particularly given the ongoing forecast of unsettled weather.
