IT WAS a case of a Halloween wash out in Limerick last night (October 31) with many children disappointed with both tricks and treats being postponed due to heavy downpours.

And, a number of areas across the city and county experienced some flash flooding in the stormy conditions.

According to a statement from Limerick City and County Council, a number of roads across the county experienced localised flooding โ€œdue to the surcharging of drains and the saturation of surrounding landsโ€.

The Council explained that the impacted areas in the city include St Joseph’s Street, Hogan Avenue, Clancyโ€™s Strand, Oโ€™Callaghan Strand, Jetland Junction on the Ennis Road, the top end of Corrib Drive, and the New Link Road Junction.

โ€œLCCC crews were mobilised and cleared all affected drains and gullies, surface water receded and all areas were made accessible,โ€ the Council said.

โ€œOne private property in Adare was affected by internal flooding and was cleared over a short period.โ€

The Council said it will continue to monitor locations over the coming days, particularly given the ongoing forecast of unsettled weather.
