GARDAÍ are appealing to the public for information after two separate hit and run incidents in Limerick, one leaving an injured cyclist on the side of the road.
Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station, explained that “Gardaí are investigating a road traffic accident which occurred on Garryowen Road, Garryowen, at approximately 7.55am on Wednesday, the 15th of October”.
“In this incident, a car struck a male cyclist and, unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle left the scene. An ambulance was called and the injured cyclist was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.”
She called for “anyone who may have seen the collision or any motorist with dashcam footage to please contact Gardaí at Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400”.
“Gardaí in Kilmallock (063 98 018) are investigating a two-car collision that took place on Friday, the 24th of October 2025, at around 12 noon, on the N20 at Knockaunavoddig, Bruree, which is the main Limerick to Cork road,” Sergeant O’Halloran said.
“It appears that an oncoming car allegedly overtook a line of traffic travelling from Charleville towards O’Rourke’s Cross and Limerick. In order to avoid a head-on collision, traffic coming from the opposite direction had to brake suddenly.
“The vehicle that performed the overtaking manoeuvre is believed to be a silver saloon style car, which left the scene. Gardaí are now seeking witnesses to that vehicle or to the collision itself. A passenger from one of the vehicles was taken to University Hospital Limerick with minor injuries.”
