LIMERICK will host the first professional padel tournament, with its staging of the Hiscox Irish Open at Padel LK from November 12 to 16.
Padel is a racket sport played on an enclosed court.
It will welcome a strong field of international athletes alongside Ireland’s top talent, showcasing the sport’s rapid development and growing competitive standard nationwide.
“We’re passionate about supporting innovation and ambition — values that padel embodies as it continues to grow across the country,” commented sponsor Richard O’Dwyer.
“This partnership marks an exciting moment not just for the sport, but for the wider community of players, fans, and organisers driving its momentum. We look forward to seeing the energy and enthusiasm this event brings to Limerick and to the growing padel scene in Ireland.”
Organiser Cian Branagan (ForeFront Group) added: “The level of interest and excitement surrounding this event has been outstanding. We are bringing world-class padel to Ireland, and with Hiscox’s support, this tournament has the foundation to grow year after year.”
“We’re expecting a fantastic atmosphere throughout the week in Limerick as players, fans and the community come together to celebrate the sport.”
