THERE were more than 300 burglaries across Limerick city and county in the first six months of this year alone.
That’s according to the latest CSO data, showing 341 burglaries reported to the Limerick Garda Division in the first half of 2025.
In light of the shocking Shannonside figures, insurance broker Gallagher has warned homeowners and drivers that seasonal vigilance is essential, especially as the darker autumn evenings close in.
Gallagher warned homeowners to install a monitored alarm and security cameras, keep doors and windows locked even while at home, avoid sharing travel plans on social media, and consider joining a neighbourhood watch programme.
For elderly people, Gallagher recommended fitting a door viewer or chain and ensuring neighbours have emergency contact details.
