An GrianĂ¡n Productions presents Lisdoon Nirvana, a nostalgic journey through 1980s Ireland, at Belltable on Thursday, November 13 at 8pm.

Written and performed by Frankie McCafferty and directed by Charlie Bonner, the show follows 17-year-old Macker as he embarks on a life-changing trip to Lisdoonvarna, often dubbed the Irish Glastonbury.

On the back of a motorbike, armed with camping gear and cheap booze, Macker journeys through an Ireland filled with music, rebellion and transition. Along the way, he discovers the spirit of youth and freedom amidst a changing country.

The Lisdoonvarna Festival, often dubbed the Irish Glastonbury, attracted thousands of music fans to its fields for weekends of rock, folk and alternative music. At its peak in the early 1980s, the festival featured major Irish and international acts, Emmylou Harris, Van Morrison, Rory Gallagher, Moving Hearts to name a few, embodying the spirit of freedom and rebellion that defined the era. The event captured a generation during a transformative period in our history, and will be forever celebrated by Christy Moore’s ode to the spa town festival. The Lisdoonvarna Music Festival ended after 1983 and remains legendary in Irish music folklore.
