Industry heavyweights from Universal, Apple, BBC and Sony to attend inaugural event
FIVE of Ireland’s most exciting emerging acts will perform at a showcase in Limerick this Wednesday November 12, as part of the inaugural Soundwaves conference organised by Limerick at Night. The shows take place at Record Room, The Commercial and Tom Collins on Catherine Street.
BABYRAT, MayKay, Jamie McIntyre, Simple Things, and Limerick’s Robert Dawson will take to the stage at the Commercial and Tom Collins on Catherine Street for representatives from some of the world’s biggest music companies. Universal Music, Apple, BBC, Sony, and numerous other industry leaders are confirmed attendees at the three-day music and podcasting conference.
Fresh from a sold-out UK and Ireland tour, BABYRAT are cutting through the noise with razor-sharp riffs, anthemic choruses, and an edge that power-pop has been missing. Their sound lands somewhere between The Strokes and Olivia Rodrigo.
Kerry-based trio Simple Things—featuring vocalist Dylan, bassist and backing vocalist Shane, and instrumentalist Kealan—bring a fresh flavour to pop music informed by their traditional Irish background. The band have sold out venues from Whelan’s to Dolan’s.
Galway songwriter Jamie McIntyre has been riding the crest of a wave this past year with his viral smash “Over Galway Town,” amassing over 5 million streams on Spotify and sitting amongst some of the world’s biggest artists in the viral charts.
MayKay, former Fight Like Apes frontwoman, has just released her critically acclaimed debut self-titled solo album on Grain Store Records. Born from grief and self-discovery, the record has been hailed as “MayKay, unfiltered and finally solo on her own stage.”
Completing the line-up, Limerick singer-songwriter Robert Dawson has gained recognition with his latest track “Scared,” which has amassed over 23,000 streams and 150,000 TikTok views.
