UISCE Éireann is this week starting works to build a stronger water network in Athea, County Limerick.

These works will involve replacing over 2.5km of ageing cast iron water mains, which are prone to frequent bursts with new modern pipes.

The section of works will take place along the R523 and R524 Athea and are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

Traffic management will be in place at this time, in the form of a stop and go system, and traffic lights, along the R523 and R524.

The works may require some short-term water supply interruptions, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to planned water interruptions.
