International quintet brings cinematic classics from The Mission to Cinema Paradiso to Limerick stage
A SPELLBINDING tribute to legendary film composer Ennio Morricone comes to the Lime Tree Theatre this Saturday November 15 , with Castletroy’s Aoide Voices Choir joining an acclaimed international ensemble for an evening of cinematic beauty.
The ensemble comprises soprano Katy Kelly, pianist and musical director Annalisa Monticelli, violinist Francesca De Nardi, violist Anne Marie McGahon, and cellist Davide Forti. Featured on RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena, the quintet have performed to sold-out audiences across Ireland.
For their Limerick performance, they will be joined by Aoide Voices Choir and musical director Owen Gilhooly-Miles, marking a special collaboration between international and local talent.
Aoide Voices—pronounced “Ay-oh-dee,” meaning “to sing”—was formed in September 2014 as part of the Mid-West Vocal Academy and Music School. The mixed-voice community choir, based in Castletroy, has performed at venues including University Concert Hall with the University of Limerick Orchestra.
The choir has raised funds for numerous charities including Limerick Animal Welfare, Limerick Lions Club, CMRF Crumlin, Children’s Grief Centre, Limerick Suicide Watch, and Milford Care Centre through its concert performances.
Led by musical director Owen Gilhooly-Miles and assistant musical director Triona Walsh, Aoide Voices specialises in popular, upbeat repertoire and welcomes singers of all abilities in a relaxed, non-auditioning environment.
Named after the Greek muse of song, the choir’s collaboration with The Ennio Morricone Experience promises an evening of rich musical storytelling that celebrates both cinematic grandeur and community spirit.
Soprano Katy Kelly has sung opera and oratorio internationally, was a regional finalist at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Awards, and has performed at Carnegie Hall and the National Concert Hall, Dublin. She has been featured on RTÉ One’s The Symphony Sessions and Abhainn.
Musical director Annalisa Monticelli is an internationally recognised pianist trained in classical and jazz piano, voice, conducting, and composition. A faculty member at Maynooth University and the Royal Irish Academy of Music, she performs across Europe, Asia, and the Americas as both soloist and vocal coach.
Italian-born violinist Francesca De Nardi, a double graduate of Trieste’s Conservatorio G. Tartini and Dublin’s Royal Irish Academy of Music, performs as part of the award-winning Sonas Duo alongside cellist Davide Forti. The duo have won top prizes at Feis Ceoil and the IMKA International Music Competition.
Award-winning cellist Davide Forti holds a Master’s Degree from the Conservatorio G. Tartini and a Recital Artist Diploma (First Class Honours) from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He performs regularly with the Irish National Opera and National Symphony Orchestra.
