
GARDAÍ seized more than half a million euros worth of cannabis at Shannon Airport this Wednesday (November 12).
A statement from the Garda Press Office this Wednesday evening confirmed that Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s following the seizure of around 30 kilogrammes of cannabis at Shannon Airport.
The seizure was made under a joint operation between An Garda Síochána and Revenue officers.
The statement said that “Revenue Customs officers seized approximately 30kg of cannabis, with an estimated value of €600,000” at the airport this Wednesday.
“The man, aged in his 20s, who was arrested by Gardaí, is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in the Clare-Tipperary Division,” Gardaí said.
The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Gardaí said that “investigations are ongoing”.
