LIMERICK’S Cecilian Musical Society returns this month with the electrifying smash-hit musical We Will Rock You, bringing Queen’s greatest anthems to the Lime Tree Theatre stage.

From the team behind acclaimed productions of Shrek The Musical and The Wedding Singer, the high-energy show runs from 19-22 November, promising a feel-good spectacle packed with iconic tracks including Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Don’t Stop Me Now, and the titular We Will Rock You.

Set in a dystopian future where music has been banned and individuality crushed, the story follows a group of rebels—the Bohemians—as they fight to resurrect rock ‘n’ roll and revive the spirit of freedom. Written by comedian and novelist Ben Elton with a soundtrack that requires no introduction, the production has become a worldwide phenomenon since its 2002 London premiere.

Directed by Des Henn, with musical direction by Conor McCarthy and choreography by Barbara Meany, the powerhouse creative team promises a production that will have audiences on their feet and singing along.

The musical weaves together 24 of Queen’s biggest hits into a narrative that celebrates the power of music, individuality, and rebellion against conformity—themes as relevant today as when Freddie Mercury and Brian May first took to the stage.

Since its West End debut, We Will Rock You has been seen by over 16 million people worldwide, becoming one of the longest-running musicals in London theatre history.
