FINE Gael senator Maria Byrne is encouraging people to shop locally as we head into the Christmas season.
Speaking in the Seanad this past week, Senator Byrne said that many small businesses are feeling the pinch.
“While some of them are doing well, others are finding it difficult. In terms of job creation and keeping and sustaining jobs, we need to shop local and support local.
Many small SMEs out there have so many quality goods on offer, be it Irish goods or local goods.
It is about keeping the person employed in their position. It is something that we should encourage across the country.”
