OUTDOOR swimming facilities in Limerick are to receive a €20,000 funding boost.
Facilities at Glin and Kilteery Piers will reap the rewards of funding from the Healthy Ireland fund for outdoor swimming facilities.
Upgrades include accessible changing and shower facilities as well as the installation of handrails, access ladders and a rescue kayak.
This is the second year of the scheme which aims to make Ireland’s approved outdoor swimming locations more accessible, enabling more people to enjoy the health benefits of outdoor swimming.
Limerick Minister Patrick O’ Donovan said “this funding will ensure that more people, regardless or age or ability can safety enjoy Limerick’s natural waters”.
