
A LEADING Spanish fashion brand’s decision to open a flagship store at the landmark former Debenhams site in the city centre reflects strong confidence in Limerick’s continued growth and regeneration.
That’s according to Cathaoirleach of the Limerick Metropolitan District, Cllr Daniel Butler, who welcomed Mango to the former Debenhams and Roches Stores building, deeming it a major boost for Limerick City Centre.
The highly-regarded Spanish high street brand will now bring a new lease of life to the prime art-deco style retail unit.
“As Cathaoirleach of the Metropolitan District of Limerick, I am delighted to welcome Mango, the internationally renowned fashion retailer, to the old Roches Stores building in the heart of our city,” Cllr Butler enthused.
“This building has long been a cornerstone of our city’s commercial life and we look forward to its revitalisation. Mango’s decision to establish a flagship store in this landmark this iconic building holds deep historic and commercial importance for our city, and seeing it brought back into vibrant use marks an exciting new chapter for the city centre,” he added.
The Fine Gael man went hailed Mango’s investment as not only strengthening Limerick’s retail offering but reinforcing the growing momentum Limerick is generating in revitalising the city centre.
Cllr Butler said the new store will “increase footfall, support local businesses, and contribute to a more dynamic and engaging urban experience for all”.
“Mango’s presence will serve as a major catalyst for further positive development. The confidence shown by a brand of this calibre positions Limerick as an increasingly attractive destination for other leading national and international retailers. This is exactly the type of investment that aligns with our broader vision for a thriving, competitive, and modern city centre.
“As we continue to enhance the public realm and deliver transformative projects across the city, securing high-quality retailers like Mango demonstrates the strength of Limerick’s offering.”
Cllr Butler added “I look forward to welcoming more top brands who recognise the opportunity and vibrancy that Limerick represents”.
Head of Tourism, Trade and Enterprise at Limerick City and County Council, Brendan Troy, also welcomed the globally recognised fashion brand to the city.
