LIMERICK run up against All-Ireland Senior Hurling Champions Tipperary in support of the Dillon Quirke Foundation at Fethard Town Park this Saturday.

Throw-in is at 4pm.

As part of the inaugural ‘Champions Under Lights’, a tie between All-Ireland Senior Football Champions Kerry and Tipperary will follow at 6pm.

The novel event was established in honour of Dillon who collapsed and died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) at Semple Stadium Thurles in summer 2022.

Through this attractive double billing, the organisers aim to raise funds to generate awareness of SADS and fund widespread cardiac screening for young people aged between 13 and 17 involved in sport.

Dillon’s father Dan said: “It’s vitally important for young people to understand their heart health and this event gives us the opportunity to shine a light on the importance of screening.”

“It’s a chance to celebrate champions, light up the pitch, and make a real difference in memory of Dillon,” added Tommy Sheehan, Fethard Town Park manager.

Alongside the on-field action, spectators can look forward to a pop-up shop selling Dillon Quirke Foundation county GAA jerseys, souvenir match programmes and a chance to hold the Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire Cups.

To ensure safety and manage attendance, all tickets must be booked online in advance via Eventbrite.

They are priced at €50 for a family (two adults and two children).
