His solicitor said Mr O’Loughlin has addiction issues, which he is “doing his best to address”.
The solicitor pointed out that the accused man pleaded guilty to the charges at the earliest opportunity, saving the State the expense of a prosecution and he was co-operative when the accusations were put to him.
Judge Harney imposed jail sentences of eight weeks, two weeks, four weeks, and another two weeks on four of the charges, all to run consecutively, and took the fifth charge into consideration as the goods were recovered.
She set bail at €500 in the event of an appeal of sentence and imposed conditions that Mr O’Loughlin stay out of the stores he stole from.
