GARDAÍ and officers from the Revenue Customs Service seized herbal cannabis worth an estimated €100,000 in Limerick this Monday (December 22).
The seizure came as part of a joint, intelligence-led operation between the two organisations.
According to Gardaí, a woman aged in her 20s was arrested following the drugs operations, and was detained at a Garda station in Limerick under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Gardaí said the seizure, which consisted of around five kilogrammes of herbal cannabis, was “made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Limerick Divisional Drug and Detectives Units, and Revenue Customs Service’.
A statement from the Revenue Customs Service said that investigations into the massive cannabis seizure are still ongoing.
The drugs were to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis, which will help determine the ongoing investigation.
