A special Christmas Message from Dr Pat Daly, Director General of Limerick City and County Council

With the festive season underway and our Christmas in Limerick campaign in full swing, I am reminded once again of the different kind of energy that makes Limerick such a remarkable place to call home.

This year’s theme, Together for Christmas in Limerick, is a simple but powerful reflection of who we are: a community that supports one another, takes pride in our city and county, and invites all to share in the festivities.

It was a delight to see so many of you gathering to enjoy the LUXe Light Up Limerick Procession to switch on the city’s festive lights. It was an exciting start to the festivities and across Limerick you can now really feel the Christmas atmosphere.

Whether you’re in the city or visiting our towns and villages, there’s so much happening, from fun family events and great music to festive markets, Santa visits and all the lights that make this time of year feel magical. I’d encourage you to get out and explore whatever catches your eye. Take your time, enjoy the atmosphere and, most importantly, make those special memories with the people you love.

This season is also a vital time for our local businesses. By choosing Limerick, by shopping local and spending time in our vibrant hospitality and retail spaces, we support the many people whose hard work brings life to our streets and communities. Every purchase, every visit, and every shared celebration helps ensure that Limerick continues to thrive.

As we enjoy the festive season, let us do so with generosity and gratitude, looking out for neighbours, friends, and those who may need an extra hand at this time of year.

Wishing you and your families a joyful, safe, and peaceful Christmas, and a bright and prosperous New Year.

Dr Pat Daly
