AS PRIOMH Chomhairleoir, and on behalf of councillors across Limerick City and County, I want to extend my warmest Christmas wishes to everyone in our city, towns and villages.
Christmas is a time when we naturally reflect on what matters most: family, friendship, and the strength of the communities we belong to.
I am also very mindful that it can be the most challenging time of the year for many. It may bring financial pressure, loneliness or moments of worry.
No one should face uncertainty at this time of year. I encourage anyone experiencing hardship to reach out for support, whether through Limerick City and County Council or the many excellent services and dedicated community and voluntary organisations making a difference in our communities.
Help is available.
Across Limerick, communities in both rural and urban areas have put huge effort into organising wonderful festive events and initiatives for people of all ages this Christmas.
I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy what’s happening locally, spend time with loved ones and make memories together. This is also a crucial time for our local businesses, and choosing to shop and spend locally makes a real difference to jobs, livelihoods and the vitality of our towns, villages and city centre.
Wishing you and your families a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
