
OVER half a million euro in funding has been secured for nine Limerick community projects.
The CLÁR Programme, delivered by the Department of Rural and Community Development, is investing €546,132 for rural areas following the latest round of Measure 1 Approvals.
This investment will support community centres, sports facilities, playground enhancements, walking tracks, and essential local infrastructure.
Athea Playground Committee received €65,000 for a playground, astroturf, and a biodiversity and community garden, while the Anglesborough Community Centre received the same sum for enhancements.
The construction of a ball wall and preparatory works for an astro pitch have been given the green light for Ballylanders GAA with funding of €65,000, with the same figure for Glin GAA Club granted for a community walkway development.
In Feenagh, the community centre is due an upgrade with almost €55,500 allocated to complete the works, as well as funding for an upgrade of the Kilmallock Municipal District Office carpark (€57,150).
The Galtee Gaels GAA Club in Kilbehenny was given a funding boost of €65,000 for the development of a community gym and a playground update with funding of €50,000 has been approved for Glenbrohane National School.
Mayor of Limerick John Moran said the “funding is a real vote of confidence in our rural communities across county Limerick”.
“By investing in our sports facilities, playgrounds, and walking tracks, CLÁR is helping to ensure no part of Limerick is left behind and that there is equal opportunity for all, which is a key objective in the More for Limerick mayoral programme.”
